  1. Hi Valeri,

I'm taking this course in Paris at local CP office. Do you know how much of this course can help in preparing for an accelerated CCSE R71 exam ?

Thanks for the very useful blog.

  2. It will not. Accelerated R71 exam does not address any of the Blade Training topics.

  3. From what I read at CPUG, accelerated exam mainly covers the gaps with previous versions including IPS and DLP that are part of the training. Ok well I'll go with the admin guides then. Thanks for the answer.

  4. All this is true. Now here the issue:

R71 accelerated exam address gaps between R65 and R71. Blade training is concentrated of new features of R75. These new features: DLP, Application Control etc do not exist in R71, so they cannot be addressed on the exam.

    1. Well, you are correct, there is an introduction to DLP (standalone) in R71. I was actually referring to DLP on a GW, but never mind.

  5. Thanks for pointing that out : I haven't had the chance to work on anything beyond R65 yet so I'm quite lost in what feature was released in which version.

Here is the post that mislead me : http://www.cpug.org/forums/ccse-r71-exam-156-315-71/15511-what-do-i-have-learn-156-915-71-ccse-upgrade.html

I'll focus my work on release note instead :)

    1. I have checked the link, and the recommendations people give there are valid.

Please refer to "Blade Module" training agenda to see the differences between R71 courses content and this particular training.

  6. i would advise to go on the regular exam instead of accelerated. It will be easier to pass, and it makes more sense. Get books, if you can afford, work them through and do not forget the labs for R71.

    1. Is it possible for an R65 CCSE to pass the regular R71 version without having to go through CCSA again first ? I'll follow your advice : On last CP letter, there were interesting discounts on training packages.

Thanks much for your advice Valeri. Much appreciated.

    2. As far as I am concerned, you only have to renew the latest certification, if your old one is not expired yet. I suspect though your R65 is out date now. In this case, you cannot do accelerated either.

The best way to check on the latest policies would be to address Check Point education services your specific questions. Then do as they advise.
