CP vs PAN - time for big words

I have mentioned in the past Check Point starting a new game against competitors, much more aggressive and less hesitant when it comes to calling names.

It has just got even more interesting. There is a jpeg chart circulating on LinkedIn where PAN is attacked as never before.

I could not trace this pic to its source, actually. Check Point people are distributing it as is, without any link to an origin. The URL below its title leads to the old "facts vs hype" page on the Check Point web site. Google search also does not recognise the image yet.

What is interesting here is that several PAN marketing statements are called lies.

In my 20 years in this business I have never seen this word used in a marketing campaign or in a competitive analysis materials. Does it mean someone at Check Point snapped? I am also curious if this is something official, or yet another vague attempt to stay civil while being outraged, like in case of anti-PAN videos in the middle of 2016.

I wonder if this is even something Check Point would be able to acknowledge as its own graphics...

UPDATE: the author of the picture is Nick McKerrall, according to his own words.

  1. Maybe Check Point staff should be spending their time fixing the support issues that are driving their customers away, rather than drawing pictures?

    1. I think everyone should do his own job well. Sales cannot do support. With all bad things around, Check Point support can be more efficient, but it is by no means the worst support I have seen.

  2. I don't work in marketing, I don't know if you mistaking my image as a marketing graphic is a complement to me or an insult to the CHKP marketing team. I'm going to take it as a compliment ;)

I wrote a bit more to explain why I made that little picture: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/maybe-lie-too-strong-word-nick-mckerrall

    1. Thanks for this clarification, Nick. I have tried to find any implication that you were part of a marketing team but failed.

I do mention PAN marketing statements you are debunking though. What do I miss?

  3. "In my 20 years in this business I have never seen this word used in a marketing campaign" - My mistake, I misread this part as attribution to this being a marketing initiative. Just wanted to set the record straight. No worries.

  4. Check Point could invest in initial quality of products and QA a little bit more to be able to fix their bugs not in Jumbo HF take 1xx.

    1. This is true for any other software product. But yes, I would also like to see CP products of better quality

  6. I agree with marklar...CP support can NOT wait to get rid of people on the phone, as its all about numbers, yet, they are driving people that pay them good money away...nice. I dont know any business in the world that can succeed that way...you have to respect your clients, not treat them poorly. But, as they say, karma gets everyone eventually.
